I ran my first 10K on July 4th (thanks @VAMomentum). No land speed records were set. No PR's were achieved. I finished and celebrated the accomplishment, but throughout the race, when I was passed by old and young and watched those around me, I also realized a very important lesson: just because I RUN doesn't mean i am a RUNNER.
Let's not confuse position, title, responsibility, or action with authentic, high quality meaning. I cook, but I am NOT a CHEF. I swim, but I am NOT a SWIMMER. I blog, but I am NOT a WRITER (evident in the many grammatical errors found on this page!!)
People are placed in LEAD positions. Many who LEAD don't receive or seek out training for growth. Many leaders enjoy the POSITION of LEAD but struggle to seek out the LEADER that defines the highest level of success. Companies fail, relationships are destroyed, and lives are altered when we don't do the WORK, ENERGY, and FOCUS it takes to be A LEADER!
I invite you to continue to practice, search, listen, and continually improve your LEADERSHIP with me, in hopes that we will help each other move from one who LEADS to a true and passionate LEADER!
